Traditional dentistry recommends children be seen around the first birthday or 6 months after eruption of the first tooth.  At Fit Smile, I encourage all children to be seen the first few weeks after birth.  My goal is to ensure that function, growth and development is optimized with proper tongue rest posture, nasal breathing, and swallowing.  Dental nutrition is also discussed. Education on these essential points are the key to better wellbeing.  I work in collaboration with other health practitioner such as pre/post natal providers, pediatric dentist and medical doctors to establish overall wellness.

OTHER SERVICES

Desensitization

A thin layer of coating is applied on the sensitive area that will block the transmission to the nerve of the tooth.

Sealants

You and your child can get sealants at any routine check up.  Dental sealants are thin plastic coating that bonds with the tooth. It is applied to the pits and fissures of premolars and molars.  This is recommended for children and adult to lower your risk of getting cavities.

Nutritional Counselling

This is an integral aspect of the dental hygiene process of care.  Counselling focuses of reducing oral risks from diet and promoting good nutrition for optimal health.  Clients may be referred to their family physician or Registered Dietitian to rule out underlying medical condition.

Interim Stabilization Therapy (IST)

IST is a temporary procedure which arrests dental decay through a therapeutic release of fluoride that will remineralize the layer between the dentin and the temporary material which will stabilize the tooth structure until a permanent restoration is placed by your dentist.

IST requires no freezing.  It is indicated when there is discomfort and pain due to trauma, fracture, lost filling or cavity.

FEES

Fit Smile follows the current Ontario Dental Hygienist Association Fee Guide.

Almost all insurance companies cover the cost of dental hygiene services provided by independent dental hygienist. Checking the fees covered by your insurance company and the individual plan you have prior to your appointment, will help you determine what will be covered at your booked appointment.

All treatment are client-specific.  Fees are charged for the time spent on treatment.

If you have any questions about cost, please contact Donna for consultation.

Exact fees for treatment are very hard to determine over the phone.  A good analogy would be like asking a mechanic over the phone how much to fix your car.  If you get maintenance every 6 months, your provider can catch any potential problems that are developing.  Getting dental hygiene cleaning and maintenance can save you time and money in the long run.
